How the Matchmaking / ranking system works in rocket league. How much MMR do you gain in rocket league ranked. How to rank up in rocket league. Rocket league ranking system, it’s terrible and broken?
Twitter – https://twitter.com/Cherry_ZRL
You just picked up the game. And you play a few casual matches and you you want to go play some ranked you look under the league standings. And you all the ranks that are possible to achieve in the game.
And you think yourself hmm how does the ranking system really work how do i achieve the next rank. What is it that i need to know about sanics is a matchmaking system in a rocket league before i jump into ranked well. We’re gonna go over that in this video all right so most of you guys know this.
But for all your new players out there watching this video. This is how the ranking system works and this is the mmr that it takes to get to each rank because rocket leagues matchmaking system is based on mmr just like any other matchmaking system out there and obviously it takes a certain amount of mmr to achieve each rank and this is i put on screen. What it takes to achieve the next drink depending on what rank you’re at also inside each rank you can see there’s this thing called divisions.
Which all it really does is tell you how close you are to ranking up or d ranking. I mean don’t really worry about that too much so when you start playing ranked on a new account you start at 100 mmr and on top of that you start as unranked. And you have to play.
Ten placement matches in order to get your rank also for a new account.
As you can see right here. When you first start playing the game. You gain hundreds of mmr per game.
That’s because sonic’s when you first start the game. You actually gain and lose a lot more ammar than you would after you’ve played let’s say 50 games into the season. Because the game is just trying to determine where your rank really is because let’s say you’re a highly skilled player who just got a new account.
Then it wants to properly place that person as quickly as it can without holding them at silver allen and letting them absolutely dumpster on bronze and silver’s for a 50 game. Straight while trying to get into gold this way they can work their way up the ranks pretty easily. But then once you start to take a few losses.
The game will start to settle down how much mmr you’re gaining and it will place you properly so now that question that might be on some of you guys as minds is weight you gain and lose hundreds of mmr per game well like i said. It’s just for new players. Some people know that you get a rank reset at the beginning of each new season.
And even then you don’t gain and lose tens of hundreds of mmr per game.
This is only for new accounts and after a bunch of games. I think is so about fifty your ammar will even out and just like any other player you’ll gain between eight and ten mmr per game. So now you might be thinking eight to ten.
So how does the game really decide does it just randomly choose and no it doesn’t randomly choose i don’t know why you would even think that so basically it depends on the average mmr of your team versus average mmr of the other team let’s take a 3v3 example right here i’ll put up on. Screen so let’s say it’s three players who are. 1500 mmr versus three players who are 1600.
Mmr. Now. This is a hundred mmr difference.
Which is roughly an entire rank and the game knows that which means. It thinks that the 1600’s are gonna. Win so it’s an average mmr of.
1600 versus an average mmr of.
1500 if the 1600. Mor players win which they should they probably won’t even. Gained eight mmr.
They probably will gain something like six or seven mmr max. Because the further apart the average. I’m amar is then the more likely the game.
Thinks that you are to win. Which means you gain less mmr. Which is good for the lower level players.
They don’t want to get stumped and then lose an entire games worth of mmr for a game. They had no chance of winning. But if the 1500 mmr’s are able to rise up stand together and somehow beat the 1600.
Mmr players they might gain upwards of 12 mmr.
And let’s say you get cute against a pro who’s like 2200 mmr and you’re a 1500 and you beat them you can gain. Honestly eighteen to twenty mmr for a game of an average hmmm are that different so another question that might be on some people’s minds. Is is there a system in place.
So once you just hit a new rank for the first time do you get to keep that rank and how long does it take for you to lose it. And yeah. There is a system in place they added this around season two it’s called the safety net and i’ll show you let’s say it takes it takes 15 15 mmr to hit grand chimp.
But when you dip below 15 15. Mmr you’re not gonna lose grand champ right away you have roughly a 15 mm our safety net for all. Ranks so once you dip below.
1500 so once your 1499 point. 9. Because as you guys might know mmr is actually a decimal system.
And you’re actually not gaining a whole.
Number you’re gaining a decimal number every game then once you dip below that threshold you will lose your rank. But then once you go up 15 more mmr so a couple games you’ll get that rank right back and then one thing. That’s really cool about rocket league.
Which some games do have but some games also don’t they give you season rewards based on your rank. Once you hit a new rank. Let’s say you just hit diamond for the first time in your life.
Then you don’t just automatically achieve your season rewards you have to win 10 games inside diamond to achieve the diamond season. Rewards or let’s say you just start up the game. And you’re placed in the bruns.
Well you have to win 10 games inside of bronze to achieve your season rewards also in case. Some of you might be wondering yes even if your unranked your placement match. Wins will count towards your bronze season reward level wins.
Because the lowest rank in the game is bronze.
So even if your unranked. It’s still like getting a win in bronze and if you lose a game then it doesn’t count towards your season reward level. But once you win 10 games inside that specific rank then then you’ve completed that tier of season rewards and at the end of the season.
You will get them and no you do not have to keep your rank you can get all the way up to grand champ season rewards then d rank all the way to brands and you’ll still get the season reward level. Also some of you guys might be wondering is there a way you can view your mmr and yes. There is there is a third party program you can easily download called bacchus mob.
I also have a tutorial on how to download and install it i’ll link that in the description below and don’t worry. It is completely safe sonics allows it just because it’s a third party. It’s not actually a mod that in any way can help you cheat in the game.
It can help you with free play and custom training. But that’s about it it is perfectly safe a lot of people use it so now. Let’s talk about something that sonic’s implemented so the matchmaking system that nobody likes everybody hates it and they for some reason continue to keep it in their game.
But i guess i have to go over it anyways because sonic’s is a terrible company so they implemented something in the game.
Where when you queue in a party. The game takes into account the mmr of only the highest player and matches you up against people of that rank so you might be thinking how is this there what if a chimp wanting a champ you are queueing with a grand champ and they get all grand champs well yeah. That’s the point.
It’s not fair at all it’s really unfun to queue with friends. If your mmr is more than a hundred apart because you can be a 1200 mmr player a 1300 mmr player and a 1500 mmr player and you can get queued against all 1600 players and it is just the most unfair thing that has ever been implemented into the game. And it’s been complaining about people have expressed that they hate it which i mean it’s terrible.
It’s it’s the worst thing. That’s ever been implemented into the game. It makes it so unfun and sanics keeps it in there because they think that’s gonna help with smurfing.
But let me tell you there are just as many smurfs now as there were before they implemented it so good job sanics. So yeah. If you do play with a friend.
You should have your higher ranked friend get on a second account or a smurf account. Because that’s the only way. Then you could really have fun playing with friends and unless you want to get absolutely dumpster don every single game that you guys play.
But don’t worry once you lose roughly a hundred mmr then the games will start to get a little bit easier. Because sanics is just like that so yeah. That is everything you need to know about the matchmaking system in rocket league.
